This is a timeline of the events in the Freejacks game.
Eras are relative to IGE (Intergalactic Era).

| -14 | Osiris announces plans to build a faster stardrive and tries to rally support for the new project. |
| -12 | Jumpdrive project is funded by most governments, and some rich families and companies. The general public is skeptical as are a few governments. The Shin Long Empire and the Free Republic do not contribute and deride Osiris' plans. |
| -10 | Osiris sows the seeds of forming one great Confederation to unite all mankind in the journey ahead. |
| -2 | A prototype jumpdrive is built. |
| -1 | Sovereign Shipbuilders build a craft with the prototype jumpdrive in it. |
| -1 | The first jump test goes ahead, and the maiden voyage goes beyond their wildest dreams -- 50,000 light years in 30 minutes. |
| -1 | Public opinion soars, and Osiris again brings up the idea of a Confederation, this time with success. |
| -1 | Magnus dissolves the UGR, and forms the Intergalactic Confederation. Osiris trumpets this unity as a triumph for mankind. However, he does not automatically presume power. He steps aside and allows the combined citizenry of the new Confederation to vote for whomever they choose. Osiris, however, wins by a landslide. The Shin Long Empire and the Free Republic do not join. |
| 1 IGE | Calendar is changed to reflect the new dawn of man -- The Intergalactic Era (IGE). |
| 1 IGE | Sovereign Shipbuilders have secretly been building several colony ships over the last couple of years, and now they fit them all with jumpdrives and announce their availability. |
| 2 IGE | Mankind begins thoroughly exploring outside the galaxy. New colonies are established. |
| 3 IGE | Several more colony ships are built, and mankind explores outside our galaxy for the first time. New colonies are established. |
| 4 IGE | Mankind encounters the first xeno race -- Nwarru. They are friendly and mankind is optimistic. |
| 4 IGE | Shin Long Empire and the Free Republic are mad that they are not being allowed access to the new jumpdrive. Only members of the IGC are given jumpdrives, and both factions want to remain independent. |
| 5 IGE | More xenos are encountered, some not so friendly. |
| 5 IGE | Shin Long Empire wages war with the Confederation. The Free Republic refuses the Shin Long's request to join them, instead choosing the more peaceful route of petitioning the IGC. |
| 9 IGE | The technology to send one-way communications is created using similar man-made wormholes to send data across the galaxy. |
| 10 IGE | The design for the Nexus Gate is finalised and work begins building it. |
| 11 IGE | The Nexus Gate is completed. |
| 11 IGE | Magnus steps down from office. |
| 12 IGE | The first colony ships roll off the production line with Nexus communications devices, allowing colonists to relay information back to the Confederation. |
| 13 IGE | Colony ships begin reporting back for the first time and request supplies from the Nexus Gates. This increases the speed that colonisation efforts can continue. |
| 13 IGE | After a long war with the IGC, the Shin Long Empire is completely wiped out. The IGC, while promoting peace and unity, finally got sick of the Shin Long when the Shin Long attacked a civilian world causing the death of millions of Confederates. The IGC then sent an annihilation force to wipe out the Shin Long and end the war. This, however, caused some internal bitterness among those in the Confederation. |
| 14 IGE | Katerina Yurre, the Empress of what was once known as the Yurrean Empire, is suitably disgusted at the actions of the IGC, and announces her separation from the Confederation by reforming the Yurrean Empire. She sends out propoganda against the IGC's new "policy of hate and aggression" that led to the destruction of the Shin Long, and many join her cause. |
| 15 IGE | Over 100,000 people have joined Yurre's cause and together they amass the money to buy five colony ships to carry them all to a new home. |
| 15 IGE | Yurre's people settle in a new galaxy they call Meridian. |
| 15 IGE | The Free Republic, gaining hope from the recently departed Yurreans, purchase a colony ship of their own and find their own corner of space. They settle into a galaxy known as Andromeda II. |
| 16 IGE | Magnus Osiris dies of natural causes, aged 79. |
| 16 IGE | A new quasi-religion is formed in the memory of Magnus Osiris -- The Osiran League. |
| 17 IGE | A home is found for a new Confederation strategic outpost. It is in the galaxy known as Genesis and the second Nexus Gate is built there. |
| 19 IGE | Genesis becomes a thriving hub of capitalism as new corps are formed and old corps move their HQs there. |
| 19 IGE | The planet Orion 5 becomes the new homeworld of the IGC. |
| 20 IGE | A better way of mapping the universe is needed. Confederate scientists come up with the Galactic Parallax (GPX). All ships are fitted with GPX locators to assist their navcomps. |
| 45 IGE | Katerina Yurre dies, aged 85. Her eldest son Kal becomes Emperor. |
| 47 IGE | Kal's family are all killed on an excursion to a holiday retreat by a band of pirates. Being no heirs from Kal's line survived, Kal's sister Petra takes the mantle of Empress. Rumours that the pirates were hired by Petra are soon quelled when the pirates are killed "for justice of her beloved family." Under her "guidance," the Yurrean Empire begins to expand considerably. |
| 62 IGE | Petra, now known as the Ice Empress behind her back, is assassinated in a plot by her three children. The eldest, Yanni, takes the seat of Emperor but appoints his two sisters as his chancellors, for the first time disallowing anyone outside of the family take these positions. |
| 500 IGE | The known universe is mapped into four quadrants and its equatorial diameter is roughly 1.8 million parsecs, and its meridional diameter is roughly 2.7 million parsecs. The term sector is used to refer to a galaxy from this point on. |
