Theta are possibly the largest single security firm in the universe. Theta Security Tek employs about 500,000 staff, 80% of whom are security operatives, or secops. The rest are admin and management. They also utilise about 3 million bots, in similar ratios to sentient staff.
Theta's security measures and tools are often higher-tech than even the Confederate Navy do. Part of this is to keep up appearances as the premier security firm, but they find that higher tek equipment lowers their costs.
On worlds that have never seen Confederate presence, Theta has gotten the name Big Brother because of the methods they employ to monitor everyone. Ironically, the methods staff use to monitor and track people are also used by Theta on its own staff. Their reasoning behind this is that it helps weed out corrupt secops who can be removed quickly with minimal impact on security operations. This has actually given them a high confidence rating among civilians and the IGC and other governments who hire Theta.
Those who are outspoken in their dissent are invariably those with something to hide. They get put onto priority watchlists.
Theta utilise lawbots (a term they coined) in places of particular unrest. Sometimes lawbots operate side-by-side with sentients to bolster numbers, and sometimes they are sent in alone to areas deemed too dangerous for sentients.
